President belauded for leading effective anti-sanctions drive

Dr James Makamba President belauded for an effective anti-sanctions drive Hosia Mviringi President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been extoled for being a leading light in the country's protracted struggle against the US war sanctions on the country. Adding his voice to the anti-sanctions discourse on the eve of the Africa-wide fourth SADC commemorations of the Zimbabwe Anti-sanctions Day which falls on October 25 every year, business magnet and recently elected Central Committee member for Mt Darwin, Dr James Makamba heaped praise on the President whom he described as an indefatigable workhorse. "Zimbabwe has been under an illegal economic sanctions regime for over two decades now. But it only took the coming to power of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to convince SADC and subsequently the African Union about the evil nature of the unilateral economic sanctions by the US and the European Union. His d...

Zororo Makamba immortalised

The late Zororo Makamba shares a moment with his father James Zororo Makamba immortalised Hosia Mviringi Zororo Rufaro Makamba, the last born son to business mogul Dr James Makamba, who succumbed to the then novel Corona Virus on March 23 , 2020 at a tender age of 30, has been honoured posthumously by his former school St John’s College. The college has erected a memorial gate dedicated to and named after the late prolific academic, broadcaster, sportsman and philanthropist.  The story of Zororo Makamba invokes sad, yet very important memories not only for the Makamba family but for the entire Zimbabwean society as he is recorded in history as the very first victim of the deadly Covid-19 virus. His sad passing as a result of this shameless disease can be credited for being the clarion call that raised the all-important alarm that awakened national conscience towards the disease which at first was misconstrued as a Whiteman’s disease. Zororo’s death demystified the deadly dis...

Brand Zimbabwe set to be launched

Hosia Mviringi As Zimbabwe moves a gear up in its fight against misinformation and brand misrepresentation, Agos Consulting, a leader in brand and reputation management, in partnership with the Government of Zimbabwe, is set to launch Brand Zimbabwe in Harare on September 5, 2022. The launch comes in the wake of a a spirited campaign by sponsored media, journalists, as well as the civil society, having gone on a sustained crusade to paint the country in bad light, all for political expediency. Regrettably the media has ignored, or at least no one has cared, to look at and tell the beautiful side of the country. It is this media obsession with negativity that has prompted Brand Zimbabwe to come in to engage media practitioners in a holistic manner, to enable them to appreciate the virtue of telling the good Zimbabwean story. Cognizant of the fact that it takes a collective effort to communicate the good message about the country, Brand Zimbabwe will launch its drive to engage all player...

Behold Africa: The Untold story of motherland

Behold Africa- The untold story of the motherland By Hosia Mviringi “All these stories make me who I am. But to insist on only these negative stories is to flatten my experience and to overlook the many other stories that formed me. The single story forms stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story. Of course Africa is a continent full of catastrophes. There are immense ones, such as the horrific rapes in Congo, depressing ones, such as the fact that 5000 people apply for one job vacancy in Nigeria. But there are other stories that are not catastrophe, and it is very important, to talk about them.” These are the words of one of Africa’s profound literary ambassadors, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Africa has an untold story that needs to be told by African writers, politicians, businessmen/ women, and journalists. The story is of beauty, success, triumphs, hopes, and hidden potential, and ...

James Makamba eulogised as a nurturing parent

James Makamba eulogised as a nurturing parent  Hosia Mviringi “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and bends with you that your arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness.   This is an extract paraphrased from a beautiful poem by Khalil Gibran called On Children. The beautiful quote, directed at Dr James Makamba, was part of a befitting eulogy by Mrs Kushinga Gonye (nee Makamba) at the occasion of the unveiling of a Memorial Gate in honour of Zororo Rufaro Makamba at St John's Collenge in Harare. The unveiling of the Zororo Makamba Memorial Gate by the St John's College on September 10, 2022 presented an emotional opportunity for both the Makamba family, the St John's Community, and the Zimbabwean community from around the globe to reminisce at the life that Zororo Makamba lived.  Yet the highlight of the event was when Kushinga Gonye (n...

Unleash garbage collectors before unleashing debt collectors

Unleash garbage collectors first before unleashing debt collectors Hosia Mviringi City of Harare has threatened to unleash debt collectors on defaulting Harare residents as they try to recover ZWL$5 billion  they say they is owed by households and businesses. Before we explore the idea, there are a few pertinent questions that seek answers. Background The city of Harare is not just an ordinary city in the country. It is the centre of governance and the flagship of development, resilience and self-rule. The city is not only significant to the people of Zimbabwe but it is equally so to the Southern African Development Community of nations. Harare, by its centrality, is the heartbeat of Southern Africa where nations converge for trade and politics. By this token, it can be concluded that Harare is not just an ordinary City in Africa or Zimbabwe. It is Africa and Zimbabwe. The state of Zimbabwe as a nation, economically, politically and socially, is reflected and personified by the sta...

Mash Central clears the air on Kasukuwere

Mash Central clears the air on Kasukuwere King Joffi Jaffa Effective communication is by far one of the most valuable tools in politics. It plays a critical role when articulating policies, visions and national positions in the face of attacks by detractors. Mashonaland Central Province led by its Provincial Chairman, Cde Kazembe Kazembe has shown and utilised the benefits of effective communication by convening a press conference on July 22 at  their ZANU PF Provincial Headquarters. The agenda being to disassociate the province from ZANU PF detractors and self exiled personnel who image false vacuums in the party's presidium.  Speaking at the press conference, the Provincial Chairman categorically stated that the Province was not swayed by rogue, unwanted and unwarranted cheap talk being fronted by the likes of Tsenengamu.  "Tsenengamu has his own party, FEEZ. With what authority does he decide leadership of another party?" queried Cde Kazembe.  "ZANU PF is f...

Rogue elements reading from opposition manuscript - Kazembe

Rogue elements reading from opposition manuscript Jaden Murozvi The ZANU PF Provincial Chairperson for Mashonaland Central, Cde Kazembe Kazembe has scoffed at attempts by some political lapdogs to try and divide the country's Presidium. The Provincial Chairperson highlighted during a presser convened by ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province on 22 July 2022 that the tactics deployed by political rejects had become predictable. Cde Kazembe unpacked a sequence whereby some malcontents copy the opposition MDC/CCC by creating false imaginary crises when ever there are major international events. In this respect, some political rejects have worked in vanity to create imaginary rifts between His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President, Dr. C.G.D.N Chiwenga  when ever ZANU PF intends to hold a conference or a congress. In 2019 when ZANU PF wanted to hold a conference in Goromonzi, some malcontents started to push for it to be an elective conference, which was unprocedura...

No vacuum in the Presidium - Kazembe

No vacuum in the Presidium - Kazembe Jaden Murozvi ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairman,  Cde Kazembe Kazembe has dispelled narratives  being driven by some political malcontents that his province had reached out to some self-exiled politicians to come and fill some imaginary and non-existent vacuum in the party's leadership. Speaking at a presser convened by ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province on 22 July 2022 at the party's provincial headquarters, the Provincial Chairperson  clearly stated that all ZANU PF structures in the province including the Youth and Women's  League as well as the War Veterans were resolutely standing behind  the leadership of His Excellency, Cde. Dr. Mnangagwa. "We are aware that there are people who would want to mislead the province and the nation at large by purporting to represent the voice of Mashonaland Central Province", said Cde Kazembe. "We are also aware of people who predictably want to create artificial ri...

Mashonaland Central Province leads

Cde Kazembe Kazembe Jaden Murozvi In a show of visionary leadership and unity, Cde Kazembe Kazembe who is Chairperson of ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province successfully convened a prototype all-developmental-stakeholders meeting at Bindura Golf Club on 15 July 2022. The highly successful meeting was meant to facilitate discussions between MPs,  Central and Local government on developmental issues in the province .  Such a high level provincial assembly of policy crafters, implementors and beneficiaries of policies can be a model used by other provinces in Zimbabwe to spearhead development using the bottom-up approach. According to Cde Kazembe, "MPs are the drivers of development from a party perspective hence they need to have an appreciation of what the government is doing in terms of current and upcoming projects".  All the 18 ZANU PF MPs  attended the meeting and inputted ...

Dambudzo Marechera: Letter to white ex-girlfriend

BELOW is a letter written by Dambudzo Marechera to his white ex-girlfriend, Samantha. The letter was written after Marechera had been expelled from Oxford University. Interesting read. Dear Samantha I think by now you have heard what happened when those hypocrites in administration chased me from their white university giving me an option between being sectioned or expelled. I chose the latter, a decision which shocked them out of their warped wits. I have forgiven them because together with you they thought as an African student from some remote Southern African country I was privileged for receiving tertiary education at Oxford, a learning institution they have overrated as a citadel of knowledge just like Cambridge or Harvard. It is such  academic mad houses that  keep on churning out arrogant, snobbish, hypocritical and pea-minded bastards who enter the world with the superior airs of holier-than-thou, we and them attitude calling themselves Doctors, Professors or a...

Hosia Mviringi Cde Kazembe Kazembe, the ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Chairperson has affirmed his support for the Varakashi4ED Zim Cyber Security Team. The Provincial Chairperson made a cool donation of US$2000.00 to the Mashonaland Central Chapter of the Varakashi4ED  Cyber Security Team on 16 January 2022. The Mashonaland Central team was failing to fund their trip from their province to Bulawayo after some of those that had pledged  to fund them chickened out at the last minute. ZANU PF Youth Chairperson, Cde Raradza made a contribution of US$280.00 that was used to buy paraphernalia for the Mashonaland Central Varakashi4ED Cyber Security Team.   Cde Gezi, the Mashonaland Central Women's League Chairperson chipped in with 80 litres of fuel. However, the trip seemed to be in doubt until Cde Kazembe's intervention. He highlighted that he had found it  within his heart to donate towards the noble Varakashi4ED cause. "I believe that social media mobilization pla...

Hosia Mviringi The Community Information Centre (CIC), which was established at Concession Post Office, in Mazowe West constitunecy has been praised by the local community for impacting on their livelihoods in a positive manner. According to Moreblessing Mudanda, the Concession CIC agent, "the centre is a public place where people can access computers, the internet and other digital technologies that enable them to gather information, create, learn and communicate with others while they develop essential digital skills". The CIC in Mazowe West was established when POTRAZ partnered with ZimPost and the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services to set up the centre. However, the establishment of the CIC in Mazowe West constituency could not have been a reality had it not been for the vision of the local House of Assembly member, Hon. Kazembe Kazembe. The MP was moved by lack of access  to Information Communication Technologies by many people in his home town, Concession, mos...

Kazembe Kazembe has dispelled rumours circulating on social media that he was protecting corrupt councillors within the Mazowe Rural District Council (RDC).  A misleading headline by a ghost journalist circulating within Mashonaland Central WhatsApp groups intimated that the Minister was corrupt. The article, which  Cde Kazembe dismissed as unfounded and misleading was meant to create hatred between him and "my brother Cde Fortune Chasi on whose recent anti-corruption message the fabricated headline was premised". Cde Kazembe further explained that the fabricated story was also meant to tarnish his good standing in society.  He added that as the Minister of Home Affairs, his mandate was also to fight corruption in line with His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa's policy of "Zero Tolerance To Corruption...

Discrimination has no place in Africa - President Mnangagwa Hosia Mviringi President Mnangagwa has called on African governments and people to frown at all manner of racial discrimination which militates against the letter and spirit of African Unity and solidarity. In a statement to mark the occasion of Africa Day Commemorations which was published on the eve of Africa Day, President Mnangagwa condemned all forms of discrimination meted on Africans by Africans in the name of racism and xenophobia.  He urged Africans to embrace each other, regardless of which region they are from in the spirit of brotherhood. Fire in the cockpit as MDC heads for elective Congress

Fire in the cockpit as MDC heads for elective Congress Hosia Mviringi Opposition Movement for Democratic Change plunges into an elective congress on July 2, 2022 following a dismal showing in the March 26, 2022 by-elections. Blighted by a devastating loss at the hands of a newly formed offshoot outfit Citizens Coalition for Change, the country's biggest opposition by Parliamentary representation has left it's supporters wondering if the party still has what it takes to lead the country. "It would be very surprising if such a tragic turn of fortunes does not invoke a sense of panic and desperation in the leaders of this once mighty opposition movement," said one supporter of the MDC on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation. The MDC-Alliance has haemorrhaged supporters to the CCC since the March 26 by-elections as the party leadership seem to be at sixes and sevens to explain to it's supporters what could have happened at the recent polls where it failed...

Highlanders had just scored what appeared to be the winner when the commotion started, delirious Bosso fans invaded the pitch in celebration, while Dynamos fans did the same in protest. In an odd response to the incident, the Premier Soccer League has suspended the whole league. The PSL strongly condem...

These were the words of Mr Mike Chimombe, the founding President of the Economic Empowerment Group (EEG), at the launch of the organisation in Harare  The new kid on the block was conceived and launched on the ashes of the former gigantic Affirmative Action Group (AAG). Unlike the AAG which was registered under the Philip Chiyangwa's Family Trust, whose Constitution empowers Mr Chiyangwa to hire and fire anyone at will, targeting only the rich and famous, the EEG comes with a new mantra, "To the People, for the People, by the People" is inclusive as no membership fee is required f...
