Unpacking Chamisa's Breakfast Prayer Meeting at HICC .

 By Hosia Mviringi

08 February 2019.

On the 6th of February 2019 the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe HE Cde ED Mnangagwa convened a meeting at Statehouse for all Presidential contestants in the 2018 elections to discuss the framework on the proposed National Dialogue.

Out of the 23 candidates the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa was conspicuously absent. The unofficial explanation was that he wanted his jailed supporters released from prisons as a condition for dialogue.
We will deal with this one in detail later on or better still in na whole new instalment.

For now let us interrogate the relationship between Nelson Chamisa, the MDC Alliance and the Church in Zimbabwe and the motive behind the 7th of February 2019 Breakfast Prayer meeting at HICC in Harare.

Here we are on the 7th of the same month Chamisa calls for what he named Breakfast Prayer meeting as convened under the banner of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches ( ZCC ).This is a platform  he had intended to use to ambush and stampede President Mnangagwa into some 'talks' or dialogue.

This he intended to do under the watch and supervision of his captured Churchmen and Clergy.

The convenor at this meeting is Rev Dr Kenneth Mtata.
Chamisa is heard at this meeting openly pushing and agitating to have Rev Dr Kenneth Mtata  adopted as the natural convenor and mediator in the envisaged National Dialogue because he is 'neutral and acceptable to all parties'.

Who is Kenneth Mtata ?

Most of us will remember him as the clergyman who was offered, accepted and immediately withdrew his membership from the Presidential Advisory Council(PAC).

It came as a surprise to many why he had accepted the appointment in the first place.Others thought that he had done a deliberate u-turn as a way of spitefully exposing and embarassing the President while trashing his goodwill.Anything is possible.

Until now we had not known the motive for his eleventh hour withdrawal.Let me not try to speculate but I will try to stitch up a theory.

Please allow me to interrogate Rev Dr Kenneth Mtata and his close personal and working relationship with one Fambai Ngirandi. This will form the foundation of my story.

Fambai Ngirande became the Coordinator at the Zimbabwe Council of Churches when he had left the Danish Church Aid where he was Governance Coordinator for two years from November 2016 to January 2018, a position he bequeathed to Mrs Sithokozile Chamisa.
 He left under unclear circumstances.

Credible information at hand shows that when Fambai Ngirande left the Danish Church Aid he had just pulled a one man heist.

Fambai Ngirande had unprocedural access to and had transfered a whooping $500 000 to the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), an  organisation he was later to lead as coordinator. So we can literally say that he followed the money trail.

Fambai Ngirande left the Danish Church Aid for another Strategic deployment at the Zimbabwe Council Of Churches with an explicit assignment to ensure and entrench Chamisa's influence and control within the National Church body politic.

We could conveniently change the heading to this instalment to read ' *The Great Church Capture* '.

Reverend Dr Kenneth Mtata as Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches was to receive , preside over and administer this dirty money from the Danish Church Aid without a cringe.

But it goes deeper than the money. It is more to do with power and control. But it should be noted that its not about himself. Its a strategic deployment of both personel and resources.

Lets go back to the Danish Church Aid.
Upon his departure Fambai Ngirande carried with himself strict and tacit instructions to ensure that the ZCC and all its affiliate churches and clergy are firmly tucked into his pockets.

This assignment would seem and indeed was easy, thanks to the cash loot from the Danish Church Aid.

All these men of the cloth soon became beholden/captive to the man who possessed the dollar.
Now this is part of the reason why Rec Dr Kenneth Mtata turned down the Presidential appointment which was largely going to be voluntary national service.

So Rev. Dr Mtata turned down the Presidential appointment to avoid conflict of interest and presumably readying himself for a higher calling of becoming kingmaker and mediator to the 'dialogue' and obviously some rich pickings should the talks succeed.
Tough luck Rev.

Since the arrival of Fambai Ngirande as Coordinator at the ZCC the Church body has uncharacteristically become very liquid.
The Danish Church Aid has suddenly become its biggest and most reliable benefactor. The tap doesnt show any signs of drying up any time soon.

What really happened is that when Fambai Ngirande left the Danish Church Aid he left behind a woman in charge. And the woman is none other than one Sithokozile Chamisa.
Yes you read well.

Sithokozile Chamisa is wife to Nelson Chamisa and she is  in charge at the Danish Church Aid as Governance Coordinator. She is responsible for making sure that the Pastors, Bishops and all Prophets are sufficiently captured, funded and kept hostage through the new levels of tokenism that now exist in the Church body politic

Now it goes without saying that him who pays the piper plays the tune.

Now back to the story.
Chamisa snubbed the Presidential invite to Statehouse, only to in turn invite the President to his own Breakfast Prayer meeting at HICC the following day.
Ironical isnt it ?

Only a day after he spurned an invite to Statehouse he found the audacity to invite the President to his own function.
Now picture this. Here is a whole auditorium full of men and women of the cloth, transported from across the country and got allowances paid by the ZCC.

They were all aware who their sponsor was. Here is a full house of Chamisa's loyalists and worshipers.
Please dear reader bear in mind that Chamisa had literally funded this Breakfast Prayer meeting and paid allowances to these Pastors, Prophets and Bishops through his wife Sithokozile at the Danish Church Aid.

You could just watch how restless they looked as as Chamisa entered the auditorium. This is a bunch of people who for a moment if not for the whole moment forgot that we still have an elected President somewhere in this country.

Now we can all see the plot.
Imagine President Mnangagwa walking into that auditorium. As usual the attention seeking Chamisa likes to enter last, and here we are in a sea of hired people most of whom are already drunk with freebies.

I could imagine Pastors that day turning into barbarians and baboons in unison in jeering  President Mnangagwa.

This was tantamount to driving the President into a sea of embarassment and anxiety. Why would anyone do that ?

Truly this is an insult to the President which should make any patriotic Zimbabwean turn purple with anger.

Now Chamisa's plan has always been to push and force President Mnangagwa to accept  Rev. Kenneth Mtata as mediator/moderator and convenor to whatever dialogue as to become.

But given the foregoing, does anyone see Rev. Kenneth Mtata as a credible mediator that he is touted to be considering his background and longstanding relationship with Chamisa and cabal ?

So honestly this is how Nelson Chamisa had foolishly planned a daylight coup against President Mnangagwa.

Chamisa had already visualised President Mnangagwa negotiating himself out of power through his trusted tailormade Church negotiators and Mediators.
Poor Chamisa.

That is the reason for his profuse pleading for dialogue on the podium. He quickly forgot that only 24hrs ago he had just spurned the most important invite in his life.

The level of naivety buffles me.How on earth did he think that President Mnangagwa would dignify his stupidity in that way.

So Mr Chamisa had walked into that auditorium flanked multiple bodyguards in a show of power befitting of a president, to a loud applause of a hired Pastoral crowd, he he he.

All this was on the strength that some identified senior security guys within the system had successfully persuaded President Mnangagwa to attend.

G40 has let him down...again.

We can all now figure out why his 'silly rally' speech on the podium could only sound hollow. He was caught off guard by President Mnangagwa's no show.He completely threw away the script and  got toungue tied.

One could hear and feel the desperation in his voice when he pleaded and offered immediate chance for talks with President Mnangagwa in the closest room at the expansive Rainbow Hotel and Towers. He forgot that only 24hrs ago he had spurned a completely genuine invite to dialogue at Statehouse.

The only reality that should or have already sunk in him is that the train has already left the station. Its too late to recover the ground. Now he is isolated.

He keeps on talking about the fictious 2.6million votes which he failed to substantiate in Court. Now I understand when noone takes him seriously anymore. He should have changed the script a long time ago.But unfortunately he watches too much cartoons.

Nelson Chamisa should stop putting forwad unnecessary conditionalities. If Chamisa is serious as a national leader he should firstly recognise President ED Mnangagwa as the legitimately elected leader of the Republic.

Chamisa should respect the tennets of Constitutionalism by respecting the verdicts of the courts even when it goes against his wishes. He lost this battle of the so called Legitimacy question when he lost the Concourt Challenge.

So here is the scoreline as it stands after two rounds of play in 2019 : ED 2 - Chamisa 0.

Mr Chamisa is desperately out of time. If only money could buy time.
This time its  ENDGAME.
Kutsho mina !

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...
LAWYERS DEMO : DELIVERY OF JUSTICE OR PROTECTING THE CASH COW ?   By Hosia Mviringi 31 January 2019 On 29 January 2019 the nation woke up to the news that Lawyers under the banner of the Law Society of Zimbabwe was demonstrating against lack of or misdelivery of justice in the Courts in Zimbabwe. I write this article with a heavy heart knowing that my brother is a loyal member of the fraternity.I will try to be professional and speak my mind. What baffles the mind is the fact that the Lawyers are officers of the same Courts which they have served under the Law Society of Zimbabwe in defence of the accused for many years since independence. They have not seen this so called misdelivery of justice until only yesterday after the violent demonstration of the 14th of January 2019. What has changed now to warrant the demonstration by the Lawyers against the same Courts to which they have served or are serving as officers and partners ? Lets try to unpack the conundrum. Soon...
