CITADEL OF EVIL : The tale of the CHURCH in Zimbabwe .  By Hosia Mviringi Tuesday, 26 February 2019. Today let me start by exploring a littte about the role of the Church in the context of the religious , social, political and economic development of the African Continent in general and Zimbabwe in particular. We shall try to briefly revisit history to see how and why the church came to Zimbabwe. The Church has since time immemorial been a key player in the Non-Governmental Sector in Africa and in Zimbabwe in particular. The Christian Missionary activities have in one way or another affected almost every Sub Saharan African country. Hundreds of Christian Missionaries came to Africa in the early 19th Century purportedly to evangelise and turn the 'Pagans' to the salvation of the 'Kingdom of God', which was according to their own spiritual understanding and interpretation. They apparently disregarded the African ways of worship which they undoubtedly viewed...
Swim or Sink for Nelson Chamisa By Hosia Mviringi Thursday, 21 February 2019 Reliable sources have it that Chamisa was stopped in his tracks when he tried to influence the Party's National Council to pass a resolution that would see him side step an Extra-Ordinary Congress. His plan came to a screeching halt when he was told that the Constitution stipulates that a Congress be held within 12months of the passing of a sitting President. Morgan Tsvangirai passed away on 14 February 2017 and it would follow that a Congress be held anytime from now and not in October as has been touted by some. It is rumoured that the Secretary General of the MDC Alliance Mr Douglas Mwonzora carries the burden to decide and announce a date and Convene the Extra Ordinary Congress in accordance with their Constitution. Meanwhile Mr Chamisa in his endeavour to dodge the Congress had chosen the Mugabe route of seeking Provincial endorsements as a replacement to a mandatory elect...
Morgan Tsvangirai - A Life MisLived . First Anniversary Special.   By Hosia Mviringi Thursday, 14 February 2019. Today is to many people a day to celebrate love and have fun with family and loved ones. Its St Valentine's day.Whatever it means.. Yes its just as blessed a day as any other. We see the love of God each day when we rise to see the sun. To me everyday is a lovely day and I have a duty to fulfil my love obligations to my family and friends. But on this day while some celebrate the gift of life and love  some do remember the sad loss of their loved ones. One such family that may not celebrate love on this day is the Tsvangirai family. They lost a son, father, brother, keeper and bread winner and pillar of strength.Ms Elizabeth Macheka lost a lover and companion on this day. The MDC family lost a leader, 'visionary' and 'hero'.Yes I call him hero because he was one to his immediate family and of course his family in politics.Of course we hold di...
Zimbabwe's Judiciary : The New Battle front Against Corruption .  By Hosia Mviringi Tuesday, 12 February 2019. The Judiciary is just but one of the three pillars that make up a functional State. The others are the Executive and the Legislature, of course not forgeting the Media which is often referrd to as the Fourth Estate. Thus I too am an active member of the fourth arm of the State.Let me play my part. Today I am focusing on the Judiciary which is in my view the most important of them all as the implimentation and enforcement arm of the State. Parliament can make laws but without effective interpretation and enforcent its effectiveness remains a distant dream and a mirage. Today I will focus on the recent developments in the Judiciary where a battle is brewing between the Prosecutor General , Law Officers and some senior officials within the Judiciary in Zimbabwe. This involves some senior Government officials and some active legal practitioners. In 2018 President ...
Unpacking Chamisa's Breakfast Prayer Meeting at HICC .  By Hosia Mviringi 08 February 2019. On the 6th of February 2019 the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe HE Cde ED Mnangagwa convened a meeting at Statehouse for all Presidential contestants in the 2018 elections to discuss the framework on the proposed National Dialogue. Out of the 23 candidates the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa was conspicuously absent. The unofficial explanation was that he wanted his jailed supporters released from prisons as a condition for dialogue. We will deal with this one in detail later on or better still in na whole new instalment. For now let us interrogate the relationship between Nelson Chamisa, the MDC Alliance and the Church in Zimbabwe and the motive behind the 7th of February 2019 Breakfast Prayer meeting at HICC in Harare. Here we are on the 7th of the same month Chamisa calls for what he named Breakfast Prayer meeting as convened under the banner of the Zimbabwe Council ...
Zimbabwe National Clean Up Campaign:What is it all about ?  By Hosia Mviringi 01 February 2019   Background and Purpose of Event . Those of us who are of a Christian background and inclination will recall what the Bible says about cleanliness being next to Godliness.Without wanting to convert anyone into the religion let me try to quote one verse in which God implores his people to be in his likeness. One such character of God is cleanliness. In the verse the word of God himself says Be holy for I am holy.In other words holiness means cleanliness of heart and pureness of deeds. But then as the word urges us to be clean it goes on to identify and claim the human body as the temple of God.In that vein he urges man to sanctify , purify , and to prepare himself to be a true sanctuary of the living God. But in applying this to our earthly daily life we discover the likeness of God in us because it has become our nature to want live in clean surroundings. It goes wit...
