Today let me start by exploring a littte about the role of the Church in the context of the religious , social, political and economic development of the African Continent in general and Zimbabwe in particular. We shall try to briefly revisit history to see how and why the church came to Zimbabwe. The Church has since time immemorial been a key player in the Non-Governmental Sector in Africa and in Zimbabwe in particular. The Christian Missionary activities have in one way or another affected almost every Sub Saharan African country. Hundreds of Christian Missionaries came to Africa in the early 19th Century purportedly to evangelise and turn the 'Pagans' to the salvation of the 'Kingdom of God', which was according to their own spiritual understanding and interpretation.
