Victoria Falls Combined Residents Association Condemn Demos.

05 January 2019

By Zimbo24news Team.

The Victoria Falls Combined Residents Association has condemned the plethora of Demnstrations and Industrial action which has been lined up for the new year going forward.

Workers' bodies , Civic societies and opposition parties have not so uncharacteristically  ganged up to pile pressure on the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbo24news hereby publishes their communique in full.

Fellow Citizens ,comrades and friends ,we note with concern the continuous pattern often used by Politician to maintain or settle their scores purporting to be representing the people's issues through so called peaceful Demonstrations which are never peaceful in most cases. Politicians survive on  suppressing citizens and hijack the citizens agenda and capitalise on that to get a life line.

Whilst section 59 of the constitution of Zimbabwe gives people the right to demonstrate peacefully it has never managed to stop the ever losses of both property and most lives attached to these politically motivated demos which often turn violent.

Our concern is drawn to the brutal fact that whilst it is true that only the very poor and vulnerable people receive the effects of these unfashionable demos ,Politicians have always heartlessly sought a repeat of this method as a way to renew their strength and energy time and again. This is a clear genocidal way of sacrificing the masses for the love of power and should never be allowed to repeat itself .

Members of the public should refuse to blindly follow such hypocritical calls , politicians have various platforms to lobby for the people's issues and they have a responsibility to resort to amicable solutions like engagements and negotiations but half the time for unknown reasons they seem to enjoy sacrificing the lives  of innocent lives by capitalising on their current situation.

To that end we call upon politicians across the divide to respect lives and  stop inciting innocent citizens into violence and later sacrifice them as their shield .If any politician is that sincere about the  current situation they must consider the safety of the people first and resort to tables ,offer  solutions and options .

If I may bring this Nation to speed about Vic Falls in particular. It is the Tourism hub and the major employment Industry that receives thousands of Tourists that not only bring the much needed foreign currency to this country's economy but provide employment opportunities to thousands of families.

To have anyone calling for a nationwide shutdown, public strike or demo should be condemned with the contempt that it deserves. It is not only suicidal to our livelihoods economically but our lives too. I urge Vic Falls Residents in particular and Zimbabweans at large to avoid being used by politically bankrupt individuals who want to quench their power thirst by sacrificing citizen like lambs. We will remain civil in dealing with our issues both locally and nationally.

We say no to further loss of lives and property due to reckless demonstrations. No citizen deserves to die for another.

Instigators and perpetrators of Political Violence deserve the harshest service of the long arm of the law.

The VIFACORA
Chairman
Morgen 'Gazza' Dube.

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...

Dambudzo Marechera: Letter to white ex-girlfriend

BELOW is a letter written by Dambudzo Marechera to his white ex-girlfriend, Samantha. The letter was written after Marechera had been expelled from Oxford University. Interesting read. Dear Samantha I think by now you have heard what happened when those hypocrites in administration chased me from their white university giving me an option between being sectioned or expelled. I chose the latter, a decision which shocked them out of their warped wits. I have forgiven them because together with you they thought as an African student from some remote Southern African country I was privileged for receiving tertiary education at Oxford, a learning institution they have overrated as a citadel of knowledge just like Cambridge or Harvard. It is such  academic mad houses that  keep on churning out arrogant, snobbish, hypocritical and pea-minded bastards who enter the world with the superior airs of holier-than-thou, we and them attitude calling themselves Doctors, Professors or a...
