Hosia Mviringi Telecel Zimbabwe, the country’s third largest Mobile Network Operator, has refuted claims that the company has been put under Corporate Rescue Proceedings as claimed in a Notice published in the government Gazette of 12 May 2023. In a statement to shareholders and all stakeholders, the company, through its Board Chairman, Dr. James Makamba said that the legal process by the Communication and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe, which was used as the basis for the Corporate Rescue Proceedings was successfully challenged at the High Court, rendering the Notice a legal nullity. “Telecel Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd wishes to assure the public, stakeholders, creditors, and all interested Telecel persons that it continues to provide its services as normal.   The late Zororo Makamba shares a moment with his father James Zororo Makamba immortalised Hosia Mviringi Zororo Rufaro Makamba, the last born son to business mogul Dr James Makamba, who succumbed to the then novel Corona Virus on March 23 , 2020 at a tender age of 30, has been honoured posthumously by his former school St John’s College. The college has erected a memorial gate dedicated to and named after the late prolific academic, broadcaster, sportsman and philanthropist.  The story of Zororo Makamba invokes sad, yet very important memories not only for the Makamba family but for the entire Zimbabwean society as he is recorded in history as the very first victim of the deadly Covid-19 virus.
