We will never let our guard down - Makamba

Hosia Mviringi

ZANU PF Party has vowed to never let it's guard down in this year's campaign mobilisation program towards the August 23 elections. With only a week to go before the historic general elections, the party has refused to let complacency creep in despite all evidence pointing to a landslide victory.

Despite pulling huge crowds to it's rallies countrywide, the revolutionary party has vowed to continue to pull all stops and redoubling it's mobilisation efforts to attain or surpass it's set target of five million votes for the party's Presidential candidate Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"ZANU PF, as has always been known, as the most organised political party in the country as seen by the momentum registered so far in this election campaign and the promise it brings for a successful poll. The momentum and zeal shown by cadres has progressively shattered attendance records as the President travels across the country on a mobilisation tour."

"We are aware that it is such moments of great confidence and grandeur that usually breed complacency and uncharacteristic relaxation of efforts," said Dr Makamba.

The ZANU PF Deputy Secretary for Transport in the Politburo expressed his eagerness and zeal to continue to pursue all avenues available and to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the party attains an unassailable winning margin in order to silence it's opponents and critics once and for all.

"However despite the present successes, I want to assure the party supporters and the nation at large that ZANU PF will never lay it's guard down. We will never go to sleep until we successfully renew our contract with the people of Zimbabwe on 23 August. We continue to keep focused on the coveted prize of a resounding victory come election day. Our party is leaving nothing to chance in our quest to secure this electoral accomplishment in tandem with our party's vision to never leave anyone and any place behind."

It was Masvingo Provincial Star Rally that set the ball rolling with a record breaking bumper crowd of 124,000 supporters in attendance as if to compete with Chipinge in Manicaland. The never seen crowds indeed got tongues waging as many people were left perplexed by the level of organisational strength on display. But as it later turned out, Masvingo was just but a mere foretaste of yet greater things as proven in Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, West, Harare, Matebeleland North and South. Meanwhile the mother of them awaits as Midlands primes the jaggernaught for the one last monster of a rally in Mberengwa on August 19.

With President Mnangagwa featuring as the star attractions to these Provincial rallies, it would indeed be expected that these numbers can only represent a conceivable foretaste of greater things to come on polling day, and indeed President Mnangagwa could most definitely be headed for a crushing victory.

The Party has however continued to deploy it's reliable senior leadership to address separate local rallies to drum up support for the party and it's Presidential candidate Cde Mnangagwa.

The party's campaign is anchored on a strong reputation and track record of delivering on it's promises in the past five years. Infrastructure development as well as a strong economic showing in agriculture, manufacturing, mining as well as the service sectors is testimony to the commitment to deliver an upper middle income economy by 2030.

"ZANU PF as a party cannot afford to rest on it's laurels even in the middle of the overwhelmingly warm reception of the President's messages of hope for the nation and economic development at his countrywide rallies. The economy has performed exceptionally well albeit under difficult conditions characterised by sanctions" said Dr Makamba.

"The party takes this election as seriously as any other in the past and indeed going into the future. This election is a sure fight for the preservation of the country's very heart and soul as the erstwhile enemy has not rested in his quest to install a puppet government in Zimbabwe. As such we can only declare that the fight is on and indeed the struggle continues. Aluta Continua!."

Dr Makamba spoke about the unrelenting attempts by the country’s detractors to sow doscord and divide the party saying that the party remains focused and united.

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...
LAWYERS DEMO : DELIVERY OF JUSTICE OR PROTECTING THE CASH COW ?   By Hosia Mviringi 31 January 2019 On 29 January 2019 the nation woke up to the news that Lawyers under the banner of the Law Society of Zimbabwe was demonstrating against lack of or misdelivery of justice in the Courts in Zimbabwe. I write this article with a heavy heart knowing that my brother is a loyal member of the fraternity.I will try to be professional and speak my mind. What baffles the mind is the fact that the Lawyers are officers of the same Courts which they have served under the Law Society of Zimbabwe in defence of the accused for many years since independence. They have not seen this so called misdelivery of justice until only yesterday after the violent demonstration of the 14th of January 2019. What has changed now to warrant the demonstration by the Lawyers against the same Courts to which they have served or are serving as officers and partners ? Lets try to unpack the conundrum. Soon...
