Russia optimistic of Zim Investments despite war in Ukraine

RUSSIA is bullish about its investment prospects in Zimbabwe despite the current economic restrictions triggered by the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine by Russia.  The Zimbabwe Independent chief reporter Taurai Mangudhla (TM) this week interviewed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Zimbabwe and Malawi Nikolai Krasilnikov NK,  around the ongoing war in Ukraine and Zim-Russia relations: below are excerpts of the interview: TM: Currently, everyone is talking about the special operation in Ukraine and Zimbabweans are no exception. In very simple terms and briefly, may you please explain why the Russian federation took this stance? NK: The Special Military Operation by the Russian Federation was undertaken to prevent escalation of aggression unleashed by the regime in Kiev against the Russian-speaking people of the Ukrainian region of Donbass. They have been suppressed for eight years in barbaric ways through blockade, large-scale punitive operations, terrorist a...

Cellphone activity exposes Mamombe, Chimbiri

Cecilia Chimbiri   Hosia Mviringi   Mobile phone records belonging to Citizens Coalition for Change activists Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri, show that the duo never left Harare on May 13, 2020, the day on which they claimed to have been arrested and later on ‘abducted’ and dumped somewhere in Musana the following morning.   Giving evidence before the Court, State witness number one, Engineer Tapera Kazembe revealed that records show that on the day in question, the duo never left Harare Metropolitan.   Records presented before Chief Magistrate Faith Mushure confirm that their cellphones were active on such social media platforms as Twitter and Instagram between 1400hrs and 2200hrs.   This is besides the fact that the two had not and still have not reported their phones stolen on that day.   The two are appearing in court for a routine remand hearing on allegations of spreading falseh...

Chamisa must stop desecrating the liberation war history

Nelson Chamisa Chamisa must stop desecrating the liberation war history Hosia Mviringi The pending March 26, 2022 by-elections have exposed deep-seated political desperation of epic proportions by political green horns angling for a share of the available seats. Mr Nelson Chamisa of the ‘new party’ that is not very new has been trying too hard to show and prove to the world that indeed he is a ‘new creature’. This instalment will focus on Chamisa’s futile attempts at rebranding and his desperate attempt to hijack and defile the history of the liberation struggle. Through repeated pronouncements which have characterised messages at his rallies in the current run-up to the March 26, 2022 by-elections. Nelson Chamisa has been frantically trying to paint himself and his formation as a reformed unit which is a far distance from the former MDC outfit which moulded them into what they are today. *The history* When the MDC was formed through the funding and sustenance of the Western gove...

Man who defiled serene Marondera nabbed

Bright Zhantali • community cautiously optimistic that scary days are over Hosia Mviringi Marondera is a serene town about 80 kilometres East of the capital Harare. The town, surrounded by farming communities is described as the perfect retirement town. Far enough to allow fresh air, but close enough to the capital in case there is some business to handle. Due to its serenity, the town has proven to be attractive to those seeking to escape the bustle of large cities. However, the warm aura was recently disrupted when a spate of unexplained murders started being recorded. Most of these murders had women as victims, a pattern which was too concerning to be left unchecked. This saw the Zimbabwe Republic Police, getting seized with the rising murder cases especially those that betrayed a trend. The announcement yesterday of the long awaited capture of a serial killer rapist who had wrecked havoc in the Province invoked a sense of relief among the residents of the farming town. Bright...

Israel and Russia : Its comming together

Finally. An excellent  explanation  - Israel and Russia: it's coming together? 8 March 2022   Kanthan Pillay:   Israel’s prime minister  Naftali Bennett was in Moscow Saturday, 5 March 2022. He was at the Kremlin to meet with Russia’s president Vladimir Putin. After a 3 hour meeting, Bennett headed to Berlin to meet German chancellor Olaf Scholz.   If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard much comment about this in the western media, it’s probably because they are trying to work out how to spin the fact that Israel is directly mediating with the Russians with a mandate from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky while Biden continues to dither.   Why Israel, you may ask? Well, let me give you some background information that’s not in the spotlight in 10 points:   1. Russia is the largest supplier of oil to Israel. 2. Israel is a significant tourist destination for Russia. The two countries enjoy visa-free travel between them. Of 3, 25 mill...
