The ruling ZANU PF party is not leaving anything to chance as the country approaches yet another elections season with by-elections scheduled for March 26, 2022.
This was contained in an election roadmap that the Party's Commissariat department released to the press on January 12, 2022.
"ZANU PF is taking this election seriously and is expecting nothing short of outright victory in both National Assembly and Local Authority by-elections," said National Political Commissar Mike Bimha.
The party notified its members that it will participate fully in the scheduled by-elections set for March 26, 2022 and as such the Party has set up an roadmap to be followed and implemented forthwith in the run-up to and after the nominations on January 26, 2022 up to Election Day on March 26, 2022.
The party has set January 12 - 14 for submission of Curriculum Vitae to Provincial Chairpersons by aspiring candidates for Local government and National Assembly seats by 1600hrs.
The CVs of prospective candidates will be submitted to the Commissariat on January 15, 2022 for consideration by 1100hrs.
Successful candidates will be announced on January 18, 2022 after a thorough vetting exercise which include background checks by the security system.
The party's decisive Primary elections will be held on January 20, 2022 to choose representatives to the crucial by-elections. Only successful candidates who's names would have been announced on the 18th will get a chance to participate in the Primary elections.
ZANU PF conducts strict vetting exercises before any competitive poll to pick the best candidate available who will carry the Party's hopes and aspirations into the elections.
Some of the attributes to be considered include loyalty to the party ideology, principles, national ethos and values and consistency in prior leadership positions.
On January 14, 2022, the Commissariat convenes a major preparatory meeting at it's Party Headquarters in Harare which will get the ball rolling for major election mobilisation activities.
The party has invited all Provincial Chairpersons from the Main Wing, Women's League, Youth League, Provincial Political Commissars, Secretaries for Security and representatives of all affiliates.
The roadmap provides guidelines to both aspiring candidates and general membership and acts as a clarion call to all members to prepare for the upcoming electoral activities in which all members are expected and encouraged to participate fully.
Some of the critical preparatory activities include ensuring that all members are registered as voters in their respective constituencies and that they possess the necessary identity documentation so that they are not turned away in voting day.
