Kazembe-Makamba combination gets Musarara camp sweating

                           Kazembe Kazembe

As candidates wound down campaigns in the ZANU PF Provincial elections penciled for today countrywide, a spectacle was unfolding in Mashonaland Central.

It is here In the Province of the valley of Mbuya Nehanda, where one of the fiercest battles have been fought for the race to the Chairmanship position.

The eleventh hour combination of the front runner and incumbent Provincial Chairman Kazembe Kazembe and businessman James Makamba has sent shivers into the Musarara camp, igniting last minute re-strategising by the Musanhi sponsored camp.

In a counter campaign response message to the Kazembe team, the Musarara camp came out guns blazing declaring that indeed all is well in their camp in spite of the two ganging up against their preferred candidate.

"Contrary to common belief that Kasukuwere is the G40 kingpin in Mashonaland Central, the truth of the matter is that Kenneth Musanhi carries the aspirations of the group in this Province. And he carries the bag (cash for activities)," said one supporter of Mr Tafadzwa Musarara on condition of anonymity.

The race in Mashonaland Central, unlike in other Provinces where some candidates are going unopposed, has gone straight to the wire with the two candidates, going neck to neck.

It is alleged that Mr Musanhi promised to dog deep into his pocket to ensure that the Tafadzwa Musarara campaign succeeded, even if it means that he will be broke after that.

For the vanquished cabal, this race is their best chance to ensure that come 2023, their candidates sail through smoothly into party candidature for the harmonised elections.

These structures are deemed decisive in the event the party is forced into an elective congress in which Saviour Kasukuwere is tipped to contest against the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Such is the importance of this race that a whole war chest of campaign material and resources have been deployed in Mashonaland Central as is countrywide.

This year's restructuring process has exposed existent factional fissures in the revolutionary party with the G40 viewing this as their only chance to bounce back into the Party.

Provincial structures are expected to lay firm groundwork for a safe return of exiled legion of G40 kingpins and supporters.

However, the Home Affairs Minister remains unfazed by the seemingly intimidating deployment of resources by his erstwhile rivals in the Province.

"Such is the nature and magnitude if the elections. It shows how important this race is to the party, both in Mashonaland Central and the country at large. We, as a team are fully prepared for the race and we are quite sure of a favorable result.

The most important thing for us is that after all this, it is the party that must emerge stronger than before in the Province," said Kazembe Kazembe ahead of the vote.

He insisted that his broader goal is to unite the party ahead of 2023 so that the province can deliver on its mandate towards the 5million vote target for  President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2023.

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...
LAWYERS DEMO : DELIVERY OF JUSTICE OR PROTECTING THE CASH COW ?   By Hosia Mviringi 31 January 2019 On 29 January 2019 the nation woke up to the news that Lawyers under the banner of the Law Society of Zimbabwe was demonstrating against lack of or misdelivery of justice in the Courts in Zimbabwe. I write this article with a heavy heart knowing that my brother is a loyal member of the fraternity.I will try to be professional and speak my mind. What baffles the mind is the fact that the Lawyers are officers of the same Courts which they have served under the Law Society of Zimbabwe in defence of the accused for many years since independence. They have not seen this so called misdelivery of justice until only yesterday after the violent demonstration of the 14th of January 2019. What has changed now to warrant the demonstration by the Lawyers against the same Courts to which they have served or are serving as officers and partners ? Lets try to unpack the conundrum. Soon...
