Winky D to launch controversial album

Winky D to launch Controversial Album.

Popular Zimbabwean Zimdancehall musician Wallace Chirumiko known as Winky D in music circles is set to launch a highly controversial album on the 31st of December 2019 at the HICC.

The album is entitled Njema which is a Shona name for Police handcuffs. This album consists of six tracks which are all loaded with Political lyrics some of which are too explicit to be ignored while others are subtle.

Of concern is the fact that Winky's musical lyrics have been consistently viewed and interpreted as deliberately coined to incite the public to resist and rise up against lawful authority in Zimbabwe.
This album is no different.

This writer had the priviledge of listening to one track entitled Canaan. In this track Chirumiko resembles that Citizen who does not recognise the leadership of his country and thus seeks to inculcate that attitude of resistence into the minds of others.
He is also apparently encouraging others to cross borders to neighboring countries which he view as heaven on earth, Canaan.

This view is toxic as it diminishes national pride and patriotism amongst the youths.

In this song he portrays the country as leaderless when he sings 'ndiri hwai isina mufudzi'.
He does not stop there but goes on to say 'ndaedza kubvunza asi hapana ane tsananguro'.

This statement in his song is strongly designed and inclined to portraying the leadership of this country as led by President ED Mnangagwa as a clueless and incapable of guiding the country to economic prosperity, yet its only the second year into the first five year term.

He refers to Zimbabwe the country of his birth as Egypt ( land of slavery) and indirectly referring to the President as the present day Pharaoh ( the brutal slave master ).
This is unacceptable.

Now this is serious when we consider the influence that art wields on the social life of our nation at large and youths in particular.
One thing that is striking and  very worrisome is the title of the Album Lauch gig at HICC.
The gig is dubbed ' The FINAL SHUTDOWN'.

Yes this is year end and indeed the year is shutting down, but why calling it FINAL ? As a nation we have endured some violent opposition driven protests also dubbed NATIONAL SHUTDOWN and it is excusable if the title of Winky's gig invokes such memories of brutal violence.

This gives reasonable suspicion that Winky D's album launch gig could as well be calculated as a precursor to some bigger things to come.

The opposition MDC is known to be planning or have already planned for massive distabilisation  and disruptive actions through violent protests beginning January next year.

It would thus seem Winky D has obliged to be the vehicle for that message of disruption and distruction by the opposition MDC Party. If this is not a cause of concern then what else is?

Zimbabwe has in the past suffered a spate of destructive violence  which has seen the country losing billions of dollars in destroyed property and missed business opportunities.
As a nation we can not be seen to condone such behaviour by attending such a gig.
Any citizen who avails themselves to abetting such actions becomes an enemy of the people.

Reliable sources revealed that Winky D's Album launch concert is being bankrolled by the American Embassy in Zimbanwe and their motive is not known.
He is still the same Winky D who sang Dzika ngirozi and everybody thought of it as a gospel song yet it is loaded with inciting lyrical content that is meant to portray this country's leadership as having failed to look after its people so that citizens can revolt, yet it is well known that the nation has groaned under the weight of sanctions for a long time.

The nation's economy is in bad shape, admittedly so, but it is only a manifestation of a number of factors that have not been right for a long time. This can not be fixed overnight and thus the need for patience.

In Manicaland MDC leader Nelson Chamisa recently issued a chilling threat that beginning January he is going to lead or incite his Party supporters to engage in non stop violent protests as a way of forcing dialogue. He promised openly to do this for five consecutive months without ceasing.

Fastrack this to 31 December Winky D is hosting a gig entitled FINAL SHUTDOWN.
You ask yourself how many other SHUTDOWNS did Winky D do before to warant this name and if this is the final Shutdown does it mean that he is quitting music? That is not practical.Next year he will do another year end show yet if this is supposed to be the FINAL SHUTDOWN. So whose shutdown is it anyway ?
This is food for thought before we celebrate a witch hunt which will point back at us.

Its a call to the nation to be vigilant and not celebrate destruction of our beloved country by agents of the West.To the uninitiated this may not make sense but to those who look at things critically a warning bell should begin to ring.

Winky D has tacitly appointed himself as one opposition mercenary behind the microphone or disguised as a musician.

The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe is being called upon to vigilantly and actively enforce the national Sensorship Laws.
Music and Film should be sensored before it reaches the ears and eyes of the people. This will protect the nation from potentially harmful content.
Its of no use sensoring content after it has been distributed already.

A case in point is that of the Video Song called 'Officer mamisa Ngoro'. This song contains lyrics that are potentially contaminating and easily misinterpreted or twisted into obscenity.

The same applies to music that has a potential to incite public unrest.Such music should be banned before it is even released to protect national peace and security.

Kutsho mina !

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...
LAWYERS DEMO : DELIVERY OF JUSTICE OR PROTECTING THE CASH COW ?   By Hosia Mviringi 31 January 2019 On 29 January 2019 the nation woke up to the news that Lawyers under the banner of the Law Society of Zimbabwe was demonstrating against lack of or misdelivery of justice in the Courts in Zimbabwe. I write this article with a heavy heart knowing that my brother is a loyal member of the fraternity.I will try to be professional and speak my mind. What baffles the mind is the fact that the Lawyers are officers of the same Courts which they have served under the Law Society of Zimbabwe in defence of the accused for many years since independence. They have not seen this so called misdelivery of justice until only yesterday after the violent demonstration of the 14th of January 2019. What has changed now to warrant the demonstration by the Lawyers against the same Courts to which they have served or are serving as officers and partners ? Lets try to unpack the conundrum. Soon...
