The folly of celebrating Sanctions : Case for the MDC.

Friday, 25 October 2019

By Hosia Mviringi

Today the 25th of October 2019 the nation of Zimbabwe participated in the inaugural SADC mandated Solidarity march against US imposed illegal Sanctions.

Of interest is the reaction by the MDC party towards the event.Their reaction is apparently informed by the Americans' arrogance and defiance to reason which drives them to resist legitimate calls to remove the ruinous economic embargo.

But after going through decades of suffering it would naturally be expected that the people of Zimbabwe will act accordingly and dissociate with the architects of their suffering which is the MDC party. But nay, they do the opposite.

It is ironic that after going through two decades of suffering as a result of a regime of ruinous American Sanctions Zimbabweans still celebrate the existence of such.

Yes Zimbabweans are hyped as one of the most educated or is it literate African populations yet still depict some deplorable foolishness.
Zimbabweans are now famed for the highest degree of endurance.Yes they can endure any situation except death.

Yes endurance is an important survival trait but very silly if its towards self inflicted pain.

The MDC Party openly called for Sanctions on the nation and people of Zimbabwe as a tool for attaining power. They foolishly had hoped that Sanctions would deal a fatal blow to ZANU PF and force them out of power.

But the unintended result is that its the ordinary people that have borne the brunt of Sanctions for two decades.
Yet its the poor people themselves who celebrate the Sanctions by continuously failing to condemn the MDC.
The Zimbabweans in their folly actually continue to vote for the enemy as evidenced by the MDC dominance in Zimbabwe's urban Councils where basic service provision is now a nightmare.

If MDC want to remain relevant the party should stop supporting and abetting sanctions because the effects of sanctions don't discriminate.MDC supporters are not immune to the effects of Sanctions. We are all suffering from such vices as hyperinflation, lack of employment because our factories can't afford to retool and reopen, poor healthcare delivery as a direct result of lack of access to forex, poor infrastructure such as roads and social amenities.

Local Authorities including those under MDC Councillors are failing to meet the expected service delivery standards due to the effects of sanctions.
Yes some may want to deny thisbandhide behind corruption which is an equally bad malfeasance. But corruption is not restricted to ZANU PF. Neither do we need Sanctions in order to deal with corruption.

The result of this will not affect ZANU PF only because even the MDC is faced with the risk of losing power in the Local authorities they currently control.

Our educational standards have deteriorated to deplorable standards.

Every political Party worth its salt should put the welfare of citizens at large and its supporters in particular at heart.

But what we see with the MDC Party is the direct opposite.
The MDC Party instead uses the coercive nature of sanctions to keep its supporters poor, sad, anxious and angry so that they view their party as the only saviour.

The MDC Party erroneously opted for negative motivation as their ideology without any meanngful policy alternative to better the lives of majority of its supporters and citizens t large.

This is a reflection of ideological and moral deficiency.A political party which has its people  at heart would naturally be competing with the incumbent in doing good for the people so that they win the hearts of the electorate.Or is it that Zimbabweans are too docile to notice this and to say NO to this kind of abuse at the hands of selfish politicians.

To the MDC selfish leaders Sanctions remain the only tool into power, yet to the ordinary folks sanctions mean a whole wasted generation that is beyond recovery.

Still I maintain that its not too late for Zimbabweans to wake up and ditch traitors who disguise themselves as saviours.

Anyone who is not for our cause is against us and thus our enemy. How does the MDC fare in this regard?
Is the MDC for the people or against the people ? You be the judge.

After 23 years, UK-ZIM relations thawing

#SundayMussings  Prof. Jonathan Moyo It's International Relations 101 that a penchant for and infatuation with trivialities is not part of diplomacy, it's trivial pursuit. With this in mind, one does not have to hold a brief for anyone to understand that the coronation of King Charles III was essentially a showcase of an archaic and obnoxious tradition of hereditary rule - frowned upon in most parts of the world now under republican rule of one sort or another, while still a big deal in the United Kingdom of once upon a time, Great Britain - that dates back some 1,000 years ago. There’s therefore nothing geopolitically significant or even interesting about that primitive culture, where someone called Charles was crowned head of state by virtue of his birth at a ceremony where "His Majesty's Government" had no qualms about displaying the full repertoire of imperial loot like the stolen African Star and majestic gold from former British colonies, many of whose lead...

In defence of Lindiwe Sisulu - SA Constitution not Sacred, Judges not demi-gods

Professor Arthur Mutambara The SA Constitution is not Sacred and SA Judges are not Demigods.   By Arthur Guseni Oliver Mutambara 13 January 2022   Minister Lindiwe Sisulu penned an opinion piece on 7 January 2022 titled: ‘Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?’  It was quite a refreshing critique of the challenges confronting South Africa.  Sisulu’s right to express herself and the content of her remarks must be vigorously defended without equivocation or ambiguity. On 8 January 2022, soon after I read the opinion piece, I publicly expressed the following remarks: ‘Wow, what a piece by Lindiwe Sisulu. I am pleasantly surprised that some in the ANC still get it and are prepared to articulate it eloquently. The issue is how to get such incisive thinking to influence the ANC and the country's direction. Is it a lost cause?’ I stand by these utterances. There has been quite several articles and remarks attacking Minister Sisulu. The ba...
LAWYERS DEMO : DELIVERY OF JUSTICE OR PROTECTING THE CASH COW ?   By Hosia Mviringi 31 January 2019 On 29 January 2019 the nation woke up to the news that Lawyers under the banner of the Law Society of Zimbabwe was demonstrating against lack of or misdelivery of justice in the Courts in Zimbabwe. I write this article with a heavy heart knowing that my brother is a loyal member of the fraternity.I will try to be professional and speak my mind. What baffles the mind is the fact that the Lawyers are officers of the same Courts which they have served under the Law Society of Zimbabwe in defence of the accused for many years since independence. They have not seen this so called misdelivery of justice until only yesterday after the violent demonstration of the 14th of January 2019. What has changed now to warrant the demonstration by the Lawyers against the same Courts to which they have served or are serving as officers and partners ? Lets try to unpack the conundrum. Soon...
